I've set foot on Australian soil!
G'day Mates!!! I don't have much time. I'm sitting in at the Sydney airport waiting for our flight to Perth. We depart in about half hour. We have had a long past couple of days. Our flight out of Austin on March 3rd was delayed so we missed our connection flight to Sydney that night. The airport put us up at a hotel in San Francisco. We got up early March 04 and walked all over San Fran. We then departed that night to Sydney. I have bad allergies and that with a combination of talking so much I LOST my voice! When we got to Sydney my vocal cords were dead! It was a mellow morning being that everyone else on the team decided to join me by whispering and 'resting' our voices. We arrived to Sydney at 8 a.m, got to the hotel at 10:30am and jumped on the 12:30 pm ferry to Sydney harbour. We spent the whole day exploring downtown Sydney. We saw the Sydney harbour bridge (behind us in the picture), the Opera House the botanical gardens, an area called the Rocks and ate dinner at a cute restaurant right on the water overlooking both the Sydney Harbour bridge and the Opera house. Breathaking views by the way! I'm quite perplexed by this city. First time I've been so confused-- I simply could not figure it out. You see Sydney doesn't really have a pattern or a particular architetural style. It's pretty much a nice blend of many cultures and eras. I admired it nonetheless and I will elaborate much more on this later. We then tried to catch the ferry back to the hotel and realized they stop running at 6p.m. We had to get on the railway, then bus and finally take a 15min walk back to our hotel which is in a little suburb of Sydney called Parramatta. So much traveling but as you know I work night shift so apparently I've become an expert at switching from one time zone to another without a problem because I slept like a baby. I'm now officially on Aussie time!
Love you guys...off to Perth. Busy month ahead!
